Kidney Function test £75:

Check for signs that the kidneys are working as they should be. The kidneys are vital in ridding the body of toxins, and if they aren’t functioning properly then waste can build up in the blood. This tests for waste products and signs that your kidneys are healthy. What Does The Test Include? Biomarkers: Urea Creatinine eGFR When To Get Tested Some conditions, such as diabetes or high blood pressure (hypertension), affect how well the kidneys work.

You may also need a kidney function test if you have symptoms that indicate possible kidney problems. These symptoms might include: Blood in your urine (haematuria). Painful urination (dysuria). Frequent urge to urinate. Problems with starting to pee.

What Do The Results Mean?

The higher the blood levels of urea and creatinine, the less well the kidneys are working. The level of creatinine is usually used as a marker as to the severity of kidney failure. Creatinine in itself is not harmful but a high level indicates that the kidneys are not working properly.

Do I Need To Do Anything Before My Test?

Avoid high protein meals before taking this test as it may increase serum creatinine and urea levels. Also, hydration status can have a considerable impact on urea measurement. Total Vitamins £95 Check whether you’ve got vitamin deficiency anaemia. Vitamin deficiency anaemia is when there's a lack of healthy red blood cells, due to low levels of vitamin B12 and folate. Test for levels of these two nutrients plus vitamin D.

What Does The Test Include?

Biomarkers: Vitamin D Folate (serum) Vitamin B12 (Active) Total Symptoms of vitamin B12 or Folate deficiency Vitamin deficiency anaemia usually develops slowly over several months to years. Signs and symptoms may be subtle at first but usually increase as the deficiency worsens. Extreme tiredness. Lack of energy. Shortness of breath Pins and needles (paraesthesia) Sore and red tongue. Mouth ulcers. Muscle weakness. Disturbed vision. Psychological problems, which may include depression and confusion. Mental confusion or forgetfulness.

Male Hormone Test £85

Check on the levels of important male hormones, including testosterone.

Some health conditions affecting men are related to changes in hormone levels, such as fertility, libido, erectile dysfunction and hair loss. In some cases, a gradual decline in hormone levels can cause emotional symptoms such as anxiety and/or depression and lack of energy. The male hormone profile will help you gain an insight into your hormone levels and areas of your lifestyle that may need changing so as to improve them.

What Does It Test for? Biomarkers: Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) Luteinising Hormone (LH) Testosterone Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG) Free Androgen Index (FAI) Prolactin

Will I Need To Do Anything To Prepare For The Test? A fasting sample is required, collected before 10am and returned on the same day. Results will be available within 2 working days of receipt of your sample in the laboratory.

Cholesterol Check £75

Check cholesterol levels, which indicates the risk of heart disease.

Over two in five people in the UK have high cholesterol, a type of fat. When levels are too high, this increases the risk of heart disease and stroke.

What Does the Cholesterol Check Test For?

Biomarkers:

Total Cholesterol
Total Triglycerides
HDL (High-Density Lipoprotein) Cholesterol
LDL (Low-Density Lipoprotein) Cholesterol
Non-HDL Cholesterol Total Cholesterol to HDL Ratio

Who Is the Test For?

Anyone can have high cholesterol – even if you are young, slim, eat well and exercise. That’s because high cholesterol can be caused by different things. It can be caused by an unhealthy lifestyle, but it can be genetic too. High cholesterol does not cause symptoms. You can only find out if you have it from a blood test.

Risk factors to consider are:

Family history of high cholesterol or heart disease in close relatives.
Being overweight or obese.
Diabetes mellitus High blood pressure (hypertension)
Smoking cigarettes
Having a sedentary lifestyle or a health condition which may impair your activity

Will I Need to Do Anything to Prepare for The Test?

A fasting sample is required for a full lipid profile including cholesterol. Sample should be collected before 10am and returned on the same day.

It is an important blood test that gives a good indication of how well your diabetes is being controlled. How long does it take for my result to come back?

Full Blood Count (FBC) £69

Full Blood Count (FBC)

Comprehensive assessment of your blood health and immune system.

A Full Blood Count (FBC) provides a detailed analysis of your blood composition, offering insights into your overall health, potential infections, and underlying medical conditions. Biomarkers:

- (HB) Haemoglobin
- (RBC) Red Blood Cells
- (WBC) White Blood Cells
- (PLAT) Platelets
- (BASOPHILS) Basophils

- (EOSINOPHILS) Eosinophils
- (LYMPHOCYTES) Lymphocytes
- (MCH) Mean Corpuscular Haemoglobin
-(MONOCYTES) Monocytes
- (RDW) Red Cell Distribution Width

An FBC can help identify:

- Anaemia and red blood cell disorders
- Infections and immune system function
- Potential inflammatory conditions
- Blood clotting capabilities
- Overall metabolic health

Symptoms That May Indicate a Need for an FBC:

- Persistent fatigue
- Unexplained bruising or bleeding
- Frequent infections
- Pale or yellowish skin
- Shortness of breath
